This month Culture and Wellbeing Manager Simon Bean was thrilled to present a special award on behalf of K Foley.
Simon attended a ceremony to recognise the finalists of this year’s stars of Norfolk and Waveney awards, meeting a whole host of deserving winners.
K Foley was proud to sponsor the Charity Hero of the Year Award, which was given to Danny Moloney, who works tirelessly to help children across the region.
Danny, from Norwich, was nominated for his amazing efforts to raise more than £1m for charities- most recently, helping children diagnosed with cancer.
He told the Eastern Daily Press “One child I helped went to America for a vaccine. It was after raising more than £300,000 for that child and now they are thriving.
“I am currently trying to raise the money to get another child there for the same treatment and nothing will stop me from achieving that.”
On behalf K Foley, Simon was involved in the judging and selection of the finalists and the winner. He said it was an experience he would not forget.
Simon said: “It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to judge the nominations for the Charity Hero of the Year Award and select my finalists, then meet with the judging panel to select a winner.
“Selecting Danny Moloney as the winner was a unanimous decision and I was completely taken aback by the scope of his fundraising achievements. Having read more about Danny’s personal circumstances over the past couple of years and to see how overwhelmed he was to win both the Charity Hero of the Year Award alongside the Overall Star of Norfolk & Waveney award was an emotional experience that will stay with me for a long while.”
