A group of team members from three of our K Foley restaurants headed out to volunteer on a nearby farm this autumn.
Eight members of staff as well as some friends and family donned their wellies to take on jobs at Clinks Care Farm, Toft Monks.
Sleeves were rolled up on the sunny day to take on the main task of mucking out the goat shed in preparation for an open day at the farm.
The team also turned their hands to feeding the pigs and picking hundreds of apples to be pressed into juice to sell in the farm shop.
Clinks Farm is a 143-acre Norfolk County Farm on the border of Suffolk and Norfolk, not far from Beccles, and combines the care of the land with the care of people.
The farm is a social enterprise, and was started in 2010 to offer placements to disadvantaged people to use the natural farm environment and the activities on the farm as a therapeutic space and a place to learn and grow.
The K Foley Ltd team trip to the farm came as part of the Love Where You Live scheme.
The Love Where You Live events began when McDonald’s UK becoming a founding partner of Keep Britain Tidy’s Love Where You Live campaign – a 12-year anti-littering initiative that encourages communities to help tackle litter in their local area.
This is in addition to local activity undertaken by each UK restaurant which sees staff patrol the streets three times a day to collect any litter that’s been discarded, regardless of its origin.
K Foley People Manager Shane Long, who volunteered on the day alongside her father, said:
“The Love Where You Live campaign is something we really embrace at K Foley and gives us a chance to give back to the communities we serve.
“I was really pleased to see such a good turn out of our people and we all had a great day, pulling together to help the farm.”
